As a food blogger, one of the most interesting subjects to me are the food trucks that have popped up in the city over the last few years. Trying to cover all of these random food trucks is very difficult because they are all over the city in different places. Except on September 5, 2010 when the food trucks all showed up in one location on Governor’s Island for the Parked Food Festival. Granted it wasn’t everything that the city has to offer in terms of food trucks, it was quite a few of them. Evidently there is so much warranted hostility towards the organizers of the event who inevitably underestimated the popularity of this event this year. I can’t really blame them, as I cannot blame the food trucks so I must blame the people with their appetites and their lack of planning for the day. It is very easy for me to say this, as I got food and didn’t have to wait in long lines. But then again, I was “working”. Even I, slacking a bit, arrived two hours after the event started and ended up missing the star attraction Red Hook Lobster Pound. The replacement star for me was The Cinnamon Snail with their vegan sandwiches which were absolutely amazing.
