Every once in a while I here a little chatter about someone doing their own unique and very special thing with food. There is a guy who supposedly sells grilled cheese sandwiches in the East Village, drug dealer style. I remember meeting the Tamale Lady out in the Mission District in San Francisco. And just last week I met one really cool chick who makes handcrafted ice cream and delivers it to around 150 people a month. Meet Diana Hardeman, a California transplant who studied at UC Berkeley and originally moved to NYC to get her MBA in business at NYU. Along the way she decided to turn her love of ice cream into a hobby by making it herself with a little CuisinArt ice cream maker. A few years later and she has a thriving business with a wait list of people who are dying to get their hands on some really amazing ice cream. Diana tries to theme her flavors based on the season or a recent holiday. For example, her new flavor for this month is Red ,White & Blueberry in honor of The Fourth of July. The flavors are amazing and creative and as I am sure we all know, nothing beats small batch handmade ice cream.
