Finally something that my neighborhood has been waiting for a very long time. Just a little history. I moved to Windsor Terrace about 7 years ago and at that time we had a few deli’s, a mediocre pizza shop and an italian restaurant that was way overpriced for what it was and possibly a very good candidate for Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. Then a few years later we got a small little coffee shop which was a help and then a little cafe called Lonelyville which was great for the community but was gone just as quickly as it opened up. I used to do my laundry down the street on Greenwood Avenue and I loved that place, but it closed up and the space remained vacant until a few months ago when we started to see construction for a place called Brooklyn Commune. Not much was known about this place but we had high hopes for it – the name alone brought images of farm to table, quality wholesome food and hopefully, good coffee.
And sure enough, two Windsor Terrace residents, Eugenie and Christopher, opened their doors and filled our stomachs with some much needed comfort food paired with a small market that sells fresh produce, homemade prepared foods and Stumptown Coffee. Christopher also packages some nice little custom salts and spices that they sell in the market, and during the winter they host the Garden of Eve CSA (if you are unaware of CSAs you should definitely check them out)
This might be my longest blog post ever…how about some photos?
